Question:

When I start a test, the program gives me an error message stating that the calibration factor is too small.  I cannot run the test.  I checked the Calibration Summary table.  All values for the calibration factors are there; however, the LVDT calibration factor has a negative sign.  What’s wrong?

Answer:

The software does not accept zeros or negative numbers for the calibration factors in the calibration summary.  The most convenient way to calibrate the LVDT is to add gage blocks between the LVDT shaft and the stop. When this is done, the output signal decreases for each increment and the resulting calibration factor is negative.  All that is needed is to remove the negative sign (see figure below) in the Factor text field on the Calibration Summary window and hit "Apply". After that everything should work correctly.
